# Scheduling and publishing

> Draft, schedule, post now, and repeat a post on a cycle

## The three ways to finish a post

| Button              | What happens                                                           |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Save as Draft**   | The post appears on the calendar prefixed `Draft:` and never publishes |
| **Add to calendar** | Scheduled for the date and time in the footer                          |
| **Post Now**        | Publishes immediately. Hover the schedule button to reveal it          |

When you are editing an existing post the primary button becomes **Update**,
and a **Delete Post** option appears.

## Picking a time

The date picker sets the day; **Pick time** sets the hour and minute. If you
opened the composer by clicking a calendar slot, that time is already filled
in.

Times are in **your browser's timezone**. There is no per-account timezone
setting.

## Repeating a post

**Repeat Post Every** turns a single post into a recurring one:

Day, Two Days, Three Days, Four Days, Five Days, Six Days, Week, Two Weeks, or
Month.

**Cancel** removes the repeat.

  Editing a recurring post affects **all future occurrences**, not just the one
  you opened. Postiz warns you when this applies.

## Tags

Tags live in the footer. Create one with a colour, and that colour becomes the
post's colour on the calendar. This is the practical way to see campaign,
client or content type at a glance in a full week.

Tags can be edited and deleted later, and the colour change applies everywhere
the tag is used.

## Drafts

Drafts are the right tool whenever a post is not ready:

* Content waiting on client approval, paired with a
  [preview link](/general/approvals).
* A week planned in advance that you want to review before it goes live.
* Anything half-written, since closing the composer otherwise loses it.

A draft occupies its slot on the calendar so you can see the shape of the week,
but the scheduler ignores it.

## What happens after you schedule

The post sits in its slot until its time, then publishes. On the calendar it
switches to published and the **Preview** action links to the live post.

If it fails, the card gets a red ring and the platform's error in a tooltip.
Postiz does not silently retry a rejected post: fix the cause and reschedule.
